How much does a local vanity number cost?
All local vanity numbers cost $79 per month ($2.63 per day). There is no setup fee and no long-term contract. You can cancel at any time with no penalty. Use code LVNC at checkout (regular price $89/month).
Is there a contract?
No. Cancel anytime with no penalty. Most customers keep their numbers for years because a great vanity number becomes part of your brand identity, but you're never locked in.
How quickly will my number be active?
By the next business day after you order. You tell us which phone should receive the forwarded calls and you're ready to go. No hardware, no setup process.
What phone does it forward to?
Any phone you choose: cell phone, office landline, VoIP system, or any combination. You control the forwarding and can change it anytime through your account.
Do I own the number after 48 payments (4 years)?
Yes, completely. After your 48th monthly payment, we transfer the number to your own account in your name. From that moment forward, you own it the same way you own your cell phone number. No more monthly fees, ever. You can use it with any phone company, call from it, text from it, and do whatever you like with it. Every $79 payment is an investment toward ownership, not an expense. Think of it as 0% financing on a mortgage with no money down, instead of renting. Rent can go up and the landlord can take the place back — even after you've put the number on every truck, billboard, and business card you own. With a mortgage, every payment builds equity and the deed is yours at the end. This is what makes us different from every other vanity number provider: they rent to you forever. We finance you to ownership.
Can I own it faster than 48 months?
Yes. At any time during your 48 months, you can prepay the remaining balance and own the number immediately. Every payment you've already made is credited. Simple math: 48 × $79 = $3,792 total, minus whatever you've already paid.
Can I call out from the vanity number?
The forwarding service is inbound only — calls to your vanity number forward to your phone, but your outbound calls still show your regular number. To place outbound calls from the vanity number, purchase it outright and transfer it to your own carrier.
Can I use it for text messages?
Incoming texts to your vanity number are forwarded to you via email. For full two-way texting (sending texts from the vanity number), purchase it outright and transfer it to your own carrier.
Does caller ID work?
Yes. Incoming calls show the caller's number by default. If you prefer to see which vanity number was dialed (useful if you have multiple numbers), we can configure that instead.
What if my vanity word is longer than 7 letters?
Phone numbers are 7 digits after the area code, so only the first 7 letters actually dial. A number like 708-PLUMBING works perfectly because P-L-U-M-B-I-N maps to the 7 digits and the G is ignored. Callers can dial the whole word and it still connects.
What if someone else orders the same number?
Numbers are strictly first come, first served. Each vanity number is exclusive to one business. Availability is confirmed at checkout. If you're considering a number, don't wait.
Are these numbers available from anyone else?
They are sometimes listed on other sites, but we guarantee to beat anyone else's price. LocalVanityNumbers.com is the only vanity number site where every number costs the same $79/month. No negotiation, no variable pricing.
What happens if I stop paying?
If you cancel, the number goes back into our available inventory. There's no penalty or fee for canceling. But because every payment counts toward ownership, the smarter move when you need to step away is to buy it out instead. The buyout figure drops every month, so the later you do it, the cheaper it is. You walk away owning the number outright, on your timing, instead of losing what you've already paid. Once you own it, you can park it, port it, or keep using it — it's yours.
How do I search for local vanity numbers?
You can't search for local vanity numbers the way you can with toll-free numbers. Local numbers are issued in blocks of 1,000 or 10,000 at a time, spread over 50-100 years, and most phone companies only make numbers available that were given to them within the past 6-12 months. Barely 1% of all potential local numbers are available at any one time. LocalVanityNumbers.com has searched for useful vanity numbers with all the major carriers for years, building a large inventory organized by area code and industry so you can browse what's actually available.
What happens after I order?
You'll receive a confirmation email with simple setup instructions. We transfer the number to your account at NumberBarn, a trusted phone number management service where you control your forwarding. You're up and running by the next business day. The whole process is hands-off for you.
What if I need to change my forwarding number later?
You can update your forwarding destination anytime through your NumberBarn account. Changing offices, switching to a cell, adding a VoIP line — it takes about 30 seconds to update.
Do I really own it after the buyout?
Yes, completely. Once you buy out, the number is transferred to your own account. You own it the same way you own your cell phone number. No strings, no ongoing relationship required. You can keep it where it is, move it to any carrier, or do whatever you like with it.
What is the ownership process?
The first step is to sign up at $79/month, because until you do, someone else can still order it. Once you sign up, the number is yours as long as you keep paying, and every payment counts toward ownership. It may take a couple of weeks to move the number over to NumberBarn, during which time you can set up a NumberBarn account in your name. After 48 monthly payments, we release the number to your NumberBarn account and you own it outright — no more monthly fees, ever. Or you can prepay the remaining balance any time to own it faster: 48 × $79 = $3,792 total, minus whatever you've already paid. Once you own it, you can transfer it to any phone company at any time. Just keep it active somewhere.
Is there anything I can't do on the monthly service that I can if I own it?
You can receive calls forwarded to your phone from the vanity number and run your business entirely on the monthly service. But because the calls are being forwarded, your outgoing caller ID still shows your regular number, not the vanity number. By prepaying and transferring the number to your own phone company, you can make outbound calls from the vanity number and send outgoing texts from it too.
Why do I have to sign up for the monthly service first if I want to own it?
Several reasons. Signing up removes the number from availability so it's yours and nobody else can get it. It also feels good to hear the phone ring and know it's real before you commit more money. And it lets you pay when it's easier for you, rather than being pressured to come up with thousands of dollars quickly. On the mechanical side, changing customer names and phone companies simultaneously can be tricky. It's much easier to change customers within the same phone company first, then transfer wherever you want when you're ready.
If you hadn't taken these numbers, couldn't I have gotten them for free?
No. They would have been given out randomly and been of no use to anyone. Regular phone companies don't know their numbers spell anything. If we hadn't invested the time and effort to find these and make them available to you, they would be sitting unused in someone's junk drawer, just like all the other numbers given out over the years.
Do you have toll-free vanity numbers too?
Yes! Our sister site ACupofCoffeeperDay.com has thousands of toll-free vanity numbers (800, 888, 877, etc.) starting at $3.30/day.
